Why the Ridgeline changes the kit

Unibody truck with a 5.3-ft bed plus a lockable, weatherproof in-bed trunk that's perfect for a cooler and food. Add a bed tent or topper to sleep in back; otherwise pitch a freestanding tent.
Sleeping in the bed
The bed is the bedroom and the cab is the closet.
- Bed tent: sized to the Ridgeline's bed, a flat platform off the ground in a few minutes. A short bed (about five feet) means a six-foot adult sleeps diagonally, or picks a tent that extends over the open tailgate.
- Cap or topper: a pad inside does the same job, in any weather.
- Dry weather: a tarp over the bed rails and a bivy.
- Cooler and food ride in the cab or the in-bed trunk - an open bed is not weatherproof storage.
