Why the Gladiator changes the kit
A full-size vehicle: any tent, cooler or chair we list fits - nothing has to pack small.
A 5-ft bed on a Wrangler chassis: removable top and doors, real rock-crawling clearance, and a bed tent turns it into an off-grid bedroom. Space behind the rear seat is tight, so plan the bed as your gear locker.
Sleeping in the bed
The bed is the bedroom and the cab is the closet.
- Bed tent: sized to the Gladiator's bed, a flat platform off the ground in a few minutes. A short bed (about five feet) means a six-foot adult sleeps diagonally, or picks a tent that extends over the open tailgate.
- Cap or topper: a pad inside does the same job, in any weather.
- Dry weather: a tarp over the bed rails and a bivy.
- Cooler and food ride in the cab - an open bed is not weatherproof storage.
